Meet our new San Diego Site Director

Dear HOP Community,

Hands of Peace is proud to announce that Sarah Heirendt has joined the Hands of Peace staff as San Diego Site Director effective January 1, 2017.

Sarah served as our San Diego Assistant Program Director last summer as well as our leadership training facilitator. Sarah received her Bachelors in Cultural Anthropology from Vanguard University of Southern California and her Master in Conflict Resolution from George Mason University. She integrates the two for a holistic approach to problem solving, negotiation, conflict transformation and interpersonal development. She has worked for multiple non-profits specializing in community development. While studying and traveling abroad, her interest in the Middle East peace process developed firsthand when she volunteered at a refugee camp near Nablus. Her education and professional experiences have prepared her with a solid foundation to effectively deal with diverse aspects of conflict. Sarah will work closely with current site director Scott Silk as she transitions to this new role.

In her words:
"When I discovered Hands of Peace I felt an instant connection. Inspired by their mission, I knew I had to get involved. This work is so incredibly important and has a ripple effect that touches and changes so many lives. I feel truly honored to be working with Hands of Peace and am so excited to tackle this new role!"

Welcome Sarah!

Best Regards,

Rick Rosenfeld, Executive Director
