Hands of Peace – Statement on Jerusalem (December, 2017)

The Hands of Peace Common Values affirm that people on all sides of the conflict deserve justice, equality, self-determination and basic human rights.  This is what we stand for.

The unilateral nature of the U.S. administration’s Jerusalem announcement fails to include all sides, therefore is inconsistent with our values.  As a result, Hands of Peace is unable to support last week’s announcement, or any statement that fails to acknowledge justice and freedom for all.

The U.S. statement has led many to question if there is any path to peace.  There has been despair in many voices.  Last week’s announcement reaffirms that our work is more critical than ever to achieving long-term impact and lasting change. Only in equal partnership of all sides will we be able to achieve freedom, equality, justice and peace for everyone.

We thank our volunteers, donors and everyone in our international community for their unyielding compassion and support, and stand firmly behind our alumni as empowered leaders now and in the future.
